The connection between mysticism and philosophy has consistently been a subject of considerable debate throughout the history of thought. Many practitioners of mysticism within the framework of Iranian-Islamic civilization have not denied the role of reason; thus, elucidating the nature of the relationship between mystics and philosophers in Islamic Iran holds particular significance. Sanai Ghaznavi is the first Persian poet to extensively incorporate mystical themes into his poetry. He, like many Sufi practitioners, adheres to the notion of the limitations of reason; however, he does not regard reason as ineffectual and does not overlook its rightful status. Particularly in his collection of poetry, he critiques philosophy, yet simultaneously incorporates philosophical themes within his works. Sana'i does not exist far in time from the flourishing period of philosophy in Islamic Iran. It is therefore natural that he was influenced by the teachings of the greatest philosopher preceding him, namely Avicenna. On the other hand, among philosophers, Sana'i has only mentioned the name of Avicenna in his poems, and among philosophical works, he has only mentioned his works. The primary question of this research, which is based on library studies, is to what extent and in which areas Sanai has been influenced by Avicennian thought.
