Abstract
A comparative study of works produced as adaptations of classical Persian literature is one of the important turning points that creates the capacity to identify and apply better ways of creating an adaptational connection between literature and imagery in various film genres by accurately diagnosing this process. Accordingly, this article attempts to compare, in a descriptive-analytical manner and with a comparative perspective, Suhrawardi's treatise " Aghle Sorkh " and its adapted version in a short animation with the same title, and to answer the main question: is it possible to adapt short mystical texts from classical mystical or philosophical-mystical literature to make a short animated film and convey all its thematic and structural values with respect to the selected example? Accordingly, it seems that despite some general similarities, such as the similarity in the main storyline and the transfer of the expressive container of travel - as the main framework of the story from text to animation - considering the fact that some story elements have been eliminated to maintain the coherence of the visual narrative, and also that the symbols, except for visual transfer and with little creativity in representation, do not lead to a new level of expression, and a language appropriate to the multilayered and interpretable concepts of the text is not formed, such adaptations cannot be considered successful and it is necessary to use creative ways to transform mystical themes into meaningful images, in addition to using the unlimited capacities of mise-en-scène in animation.
