But the analysis of symbolic concepts of the exploits of the two mythical heroes of Shahname reveals something else. <br />Although the surface structure of these two travels with seven symbolic levels is different, their deep structure is the same. The study of symbols of these exploits reveals the mysterious and symbolic presence of develish powers behind unconscious levels. These powers, in the form of lion, wolf, dragon, witch, demon etc, force Rostam and Esfandyar into hard but inevitable struggles. It is only through confrontation with these devils and destroying them that reaching to the innermost level of unconscious, that is the self, is possible. At the end of this symbolic travel, the fourth dimension of unconscious is added to the three dimensions with the help of anima and the perfection of the two heroes is achieved. در خوانش نخست از هفتخان رستم و هفتخان اسفندیار که دو تجلّی از کهن الگوی آیینی باززایی(تولد مجدد) به شمار می روند، چنین به نظر می رسد که این دو بخش از شاهنامه، جز در خان سوم(مبارزه با اژدها) و خان چهارم(مبارزه با جادوگر)، کاملاً با یکدیگر متفاوتند؛ اما واکاوی مفاهیم نمادین مربوط به خانهای دو قهرمان اساطیری شاهنامه، گویای مطالب دیگری است. این دو سفر با هفت مرحله نمادین، اگرچه به لحاظ روساختی با یکدیگر متفاوتند؛ اما به لحاظ ژرف ساخت کاملاً شبیه یکدیگرند. آنچه نمادشناسی خانهای دو قهرمان به دست می دهد، حضوری رازآلود و سمبلیک از نیروهای اهریمنی خفته در پس لایه های ناخودآگاهی است که در هیأت شیر، گرگ، اژدها، جادوگر، دیو و... رستم و اسفندیار را به نبردهای دشوار و جانکاه، اما ناگزیر می‌کشاند؛ چراکه تنها در صورت رویارویی با این اهریمنان دیوسیرت و نابودی آنهاست که دستیابی به درونی‌ترین لایه ناخودآگاهی؛ یعنی «خود» برای دو قهرمان ممکن می گردد تا بدین ترتیب در پایان موفقیت‌آمیز این سفر نمادین، گوشه چهارم روان ناخودآگاه به دستیاری آنیما، به سه گوشه اضافه شده و تمامیت و کمال مورد نظر برای رستم و اسفندیار حاصل شود. https://jpll.ui.ac.ir/article_16367_851ff7408e0cb09c7259a2535c669759.pdf
