Every word has two important functions in poetry. On the one hand, the form of poetry is based on words. On the other hand, it is the tool for transferring the meaning of poetry. The phonetic aspect of the word alone produces two effects for poetry: 1- reinforcing the music of poetry formed by alliteration, pun, and other musical beauties that are the result of phonemes and phonetic clusters repetition and 2- inducing meaning through phonemes. In addition, from the semantic point of view, words have important effects on poetry, because of their three kinds of meaning: implicit, explicit and figurative. مقاله حاضر نتیجه پژوهشی است که به روش کتابخانه‌ای به بررسی و تحلیل اهمیت و نقش عناصر و ویژگیهای ساختاری واژه به عنوان مهمترین عامل مؤثر در گزینش واژگان شعر می‌پردازد. هر واژه در گزینش شاعرانه از دو جنبه مورد توجه قرار می‌گیرد: از جهت ساختار آوایی واژه و از جهت انتقال و القای معانی. جنبه آوایی واژه، به تنهایی خود دو نقش مهم در شعر دارد: آواهای واژه علاوه بر تقویت موسیقی شعر که از طریق واج‌آرایی، جناس و دیگر زیباییهای موسیقایی حاصل از تکرار واجها و خوشه‌های آوایی شکل می‌گیرد، در القای مفاهیم نیز درخور توجه و در گزینش واژه مؤثر است. وظیفه انتقال و القای معانی دومین نقش مهم واژه در شعر است. علاوه بر این، از نظر معنایی نیز به لحا‌ظ آن که واژه می‌تواند سه نوع بار معنایی صریح، ضمنی و مجازی القا کند، تأثیر مهمی در گزینش واژگان شعر دارد. https://jpll.ui.ac.ir/article_16253_5f2609df56c363c37f43f40d003912ac.pdf
